Track

The state of Pennsylvania is home to one of the most celebrated (and famous) outdoor velodromes in the United States. For 30+ years, cyclist from around the world have gathered at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center (formerly Lehigh Valley Velodrome) to compete against one another. The 333-meter concrete track (aka “The Concrete Crater”) is home to racing from April through September. For more information visit the Valley Preferred Cycling Center.

The PA BAR Series for the track keeps this competition strong with points awarded on the second Tuesday of racing during the season. Any rider is eligible to gain PA BAR points, resident of PA or not. Categories for the track are Elite Men and Women, Master Men and Juniors. At the end of the each season, the winner of these categories are awarded a dedicated winner’s jersey and trophy for their efforts.

PCA Track BAR

The PCA was founded in the late 1990’s primarily to promote the BAR (Best All-Around Rider). The PA BAR was founded on the premise of offering PA licensed riders an opportunity to earn points in selected races during the road racing season culminating with the awarding of a champions jersey at season’s end. The PA Track BAR has been extended for 2016. All riders have the opportunity to earn points on select Tuesday nights and Saturday’s through September.  Master Categories have been changed for 2016 to 40+ (Cat 1/2/3/4) and 55+ (Cat 1/2/3/4).

Categories and Eligibility

The following Tuesday night categories will compete for PA Track BAR points:

  • PRO-AM Men (Cat 1-2)
  • PRO-AM Women (Cat 1-3)
  • Stagiaires (Cat 2-3)
  • Future Stars (Juniors 13-18 A & B)

The following Saturday categories will compete for PA Track BAR points:

  • Masters (Eligible riders are 40+ and 55+ in age [Cat 1-4])
  • Women (Cat 3-4)

While all licensed riders are eligible to earn points the 2016 PA Track BAR championship will be awarded to the PA rider with the most points at the end of the competition. Awards will be presented to the top three riders in each category regardless of state affiliation at the 2016 PCA Awards banquet.

Points will be awarded based upon the Omnium results for each category and scored seven (7) deep: 35-30-25-20-15-10-5.
