I am getting ready to go the Tour of Georgia. It is going to be a good race this year. The past couple years I have began racing in March and my legs are just starting to come around into good race shape around TOG and early May. This year, I actually did a race in January, which is just crazy. But it sure helped me get through the early season races. And now I feel that I have very good form going into TOG.
So, here is a quick summary of my season so far. Raced a crit in Los Angeles in January, then some more local California racing the first half of February, plus team training camp in Sonoma, CA. Then we raced the Tour of California. That was a cool race, lots of big crowds all along the way, and cool stages, but hard stages. I struggled through the whole race and found some pretty good legs for the last stage, a circuit in Redondo Beach, where I got into the main breakaway of the day. The team got some good coverage on the deuce (ESPN2). You might have heard them saying my name a little bit. I tried to get the most aggressive rider jersey by attacking the break right before we were caught on the last lap, but it didn’t work. After the TOC, the team started racing the National Racing Calender. So I have been racing the NRC races in California and then flying home in between some of them and getting to sleep in my own bed, which has been nice.
Now everything moves the East Coast and I am glad about that. So at Georgia this week the team will be going for some stage wins and maybe some of the jersey’s that are given out. It will be a hard race with 6 Protour teams slotted to start, but the team is riding well and I am excited for to show what I can do in the race this year.
So every night that we have a wifi connection this week, I will try to give you all an update. Later.
