Video Finish Camera

The Pennsylvania Cycling Association requires that PA BAR races utilize a finish line camera capable of accurately placing results for all BAR points riders (often 20 or 30 deep in races that include out of state riders.) The PCA has equipment available for PROMOTERS OF PA BAR RACES THAT ARE AFFILIATED WITH A PCA MEMBER CLUB that can perform this function, and use of this equipment is included with the club membership dues paid each year by the clubs of the PCA. (Promoters of BAR races who are not affiliated with a PCA member club should contact a member of the PCA Board to discuss options.)

Clubs who use the camera for their BAR race accept responsibility for the care and condition of the camera while it is in their posession. The following are the steps that are involved in the scheduling, procurement, and return of the equipment. DETAILED and SHORT INSTRUCTIONS are available in advance of pickup. PCA member clubs choosing to use the PCA Video Finish equipment should review the instructions in advance of the event to ensure that the details regarding operation are clear when the equipment is picked up.

Equipment Reservation Process

  1. Email John Lenart to schedule the Camera for your event.
  2. Coordinate with John as to how the camera will be picked up and returned. (Oftentimes, it is possible to procure the camera at the BAR Race previous to your event; however, other arrangements are sometimes necessary!)
  3. When you receive the Camera, you will verify the equipment received and sign for it. By doing so you are confirming that you have received the equipment in proper working order. At this point, you are financially responsible for the camera. (A Checklist is available to ensure that all the equipment is present.)
  4. Review the instructions for use of the camera AND PRACTICE WITH IT BEFORE YOU RECORD YOUR FIRST RESULT!
  5. Have a great BAR event using the camera to accurately capture results as deep as you want to go.
  6. Verify that the camera is packed completely and as received, and follow through with the arrangements for returning the camera as established in your arrangements with John.

With the cooperation of all the BAR promoting clubs, we can continue to ensure fast, accurate results without undue cost or hassle.
